Sunbury Manor Interact and Aurora
Shepperton Aurora Rotary group have been very fortunate to have a very successful Interact Club at Sunbury Manor School. Aurora has worked alongside the club with the support of the Headteacher, three very hardworking and dedicated teachers and over 90 enthusiastic and caring children who not only, collected around £15,000 for different causes, but also supported many charities and have visited schools and senior centres.
What is an Interact Club?
Interact is Rotary International’s service club for young people ages 12 to 18. The clubs are sponsored by individual Rotary clubs, which provide support and guidance, but each Interact is self-governing and self-supporting. Club membership varies greatly. They can draw from the student body of a single school or from two or more schools in the same community or can be community based for example within a youth group.
Sunbury Manor Interact have visited schools to help children with disabilities and have had great fun with many lovely mature men and women at the Greeno Centre.

Eco Friendly Honey from our 2020 International the bees, the trees, the elephants and me.
A scheme to help people to help themselves. In collaboration with our friends at Hoedspruit Rotary Club in Limpopo Province, South Africa and the charity Elephants Alive, we are sponsoring a managed, ecological, community based project designed to offer an environmentally, sustainable product and give alternative livelihoods to people in some of the poorest areas of South Africa.
In discussions with the local communities involved, Rotary have helped designate three sites capable of starting and running bee farms and producing honey, and other beeswax products, on a semi commercial basis. Trials have already shown the products have become highly marketable and there’s already a waiting list for more of the limited production currently available.
With the backing of District 9400 and the Rotary Foundation, Shepperton Aurora will be leading the way to help these communities, by providing an enduring source of income where existing employment opportunities, for both men and women, are severely limited in these economically deprived areas.
